Reading the Bible in 2019 – Wax

As the new year approaches, you should consider using a helpful Bible reading plan to help you spend time in God’s Word regularly. I recommend the use of a plan, and have found a helpful article which will walk you through selecting one. Before sharing the link, I would like to give a little friendly advice.

  1. Pick a schedule that allows for misses.
  2. Don’t commit to a schedule that intimidates you before you even get started in it.
  3. If you’ve never used a schedule before, you will discover parts of the Bible that you never knew existed. The schedule will push you to read broadly across the text (or maybe only the Old Testament or New Testament).
  4. Take the long view of Bible reading/study. It is not the guzzling of a single barrel of water that satisfies. Rather, it is a consistent drinking from the well that will slake your spiritual thirst.

Trevin Wax has written a helpful guide to the plans. Please read what he says and consider committing to regular Bible reading in 2019.

My name is Dave Sherrill. I am an Evangelical Christian. I seek to serve the Lord with three goals in mind: * to clearly proclaim the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the only true and real hope for a world full of people lost in sin and alienated from God; calling them to repent and believe in Jesus for forgiveness and eternal life. * to challenge unbelief in all forms using God’s Word, the Bible; taking every thought captive to obey Christ. * to encourage Christians to embrace a biblical worldview in all its richness; the Christian life encompassing the full breadth of our individual lives, which are to be lived for the glory of God in Christ.
